How this guide works
Most restaurant lists are one person's opinion, one platform's algorithm, or one advertiser's budget. This site is none of those. It's a cross-examination.
The three sources
The Crowd — Google. Ratings and review counts scraped from Google Maps across Da Nang, dong price bands included. Residents and regulars — the best measure of everyday consistency.
The Travelers — TripAdvisor. The city's ranked list filtered to 4.5★ and up, plus the Travelers' Choice award winners. Visitors judge the whole experience.
The Inspectors — MICHELIN. The Da Nang selection of the MICHELIN Guide Vietnam 2026 (announced 4 June 2026), all 47 restaurants: La Maison 1888's One Star, 23 Bib Gourmands and 23 Selected — Nén Danang among them, holder since 2024 of Vietnam's first Green Star. Checked entry by entry against the guide on 9 October 2026.
The visuals
This is laid out as a field guide: an index you can scan, not a wall of pictures. There is no stock photography and no decorative art standing in for food we haven't seen. The only photographs on the site are ones a restaurant sends us of its own food and room (so far: Bao Bao), published on its page with a credit to the restaurant. We never take photos from review platforms or other sites. The type is Be Vietnam Pro, a typeface made in Vietnam, with IBM Plex Mono for the numbers.
Matching & badges
We track 241 records across the three sources, matched by normalised name (Vietnamese diacritics handled, generic names never auto-match, and branch-specific awards stay with the right branch). Badges: Triple Crown (all three lists), Double-Checked, MICHELIN Star / Green Star / Bib Gourmand / Selected, Travelers' Choice, Crowd Favorite (4.5★+, 1,000+ reviews), Hidden Gem and Dong Hero (4.5★+ under ₫150K). Order within sections comes from a Bayesian blend of ratings weighted by review volume — never from payment.
What we will never do
Sell placement. Rank with a secret formula. Trash a restaurant — every place here already cleared a high bar, and Da Nang's food scene deserves cheerleaders, not hit pieces. If a restaurant is listed, someone genuinely loves eating there.
How the site pays for itself
The TripAdvisor, food-tour, cooking-class and travel-kit links are affiliate links: if you book through one we may earn a commission, at no cost to you. No link on this site books a restaurant table. Affiliates never affect who is listed, what badges they earn, or the order they appear in — the data decides. The full list of programmes is on the disclosure page.
Freshness, limits & corrections
The Google and TripAdvisor numbers are a snapshot recorded in August 2026, when this guide was built, and have not been refreshed since; a restaurant added later carries its own date. Ratings move daily, so every page links to the live Google Maps listing — which is also where to find opening hours: we don't publish them, because a copy goes stale the day it is made. The MICHELIN entries were re-checked against the guide on 9 October 2026. We do not eat at every restaurant listed; the pages report what the three sources say. Spot an error or run a restaurant we've mislabelled? Email richard@uncompromised.travel and we'll fix it.
